JAipur
The pink city, Rajasthan’s capital, and the largest of its colour-coded municipalities. Unmistakable, it only acquired its salmon pink hues in the 19th century. Established in 1727 by Maharaja Jai Singh II, the original capital was in Amer, before being relocated 11km west to allow for greater expansion and access to water. That said, the gargantuan Amer Fort still stands, and must be experienced, as should The ‘Palace of Winds’ – Hawa Mahal, and the opulent interiors of City Palace. Take a tour of the city with Pink City Rickshaw Co. a female led initiative or jump in a Vespa sidecar with Zoomz. Jaipur boasts a seemingly endless ‘To Do’ list – best ‘to do’ so between October and March.
